About

You Snooze, You Lose. Don’t Drive Drowsy!

The Night To Light Revive Before You Drive project is a recipient of the 2024 Health Equity and Nursing Innovations Fund sponsored by AARP, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN Critical Care), and the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. This project was selected due to its goals to establish and sustain a healthy work environment through strengthening and diversifying the nursing workforce.

Project interventions are distinct to the challenges faced by night shift nurses of this specific organization. These interventions include but are not limited to awareness campaigns and interventions through wellness programs posters, flyers, rolling coffee carts, video documentary, hydration center, mobile website creation, community collaboration, and the creation of an original song.

The Process

Steps to Stay Awake and Drive Safely

Taking proactive measures to prevent drowsy driving is essential. Follow these steps to ensure you stay alert on the road.

01

Prepare Before Driving

Ensure you're well-rested before starting your commute. Avoid driving after a long shift without adequate rest.

02

Stay Engaged During the Drive

Keep your mind active by listening to music or a podcast, calling a friend, or having a caffeinated beverage.

03

Take Action When Drowsy

If you feel sleepy, pull over safely, and take a 20-minute nap or stretch. Don't ignore the warning signs of drowsiness.
